Safer Neighbourhood Boards are in place in every London Borough, bringing police and communities together to decide local policing and crime priorities, solve problems collaboratively and make sure that the public are involved in a wide range of other community safety decisions.
Local ward panels in London are community-run groups where residents, community leaders, and the Metropolitan Police Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) discuss local crime and disorder concerns. These panels, which are being implemented across London's wards, help set local policing priorities and monitor progress, fostering a collaborative approach to community safety. Residents can become involved by contacting their local SNT, often found on the Met Police or local council website.
The ward panel is made up of residents who have agreed to attend ward panel meetings regularly (there are generally 4 meetings per year) and have signed the terms of reference for the ward panel. Each ward has a panel of around 6 to 10 residents and one chair. The meetings are attended by the ward panel, local councillors, the policing team for that ward, and council officers usually from the enforcement team.
